Lifan Group is a large Chinese private company specializing in the production of cars, buses, motorcycles, scooters, ATVs.
The headquarters is in Chongqing. The company sponsors the football club Chongqing Lifan, speaking in the Super League of China.
Initially, the company was called the “Chongqing Hongda Auto Fittings Research Center”, was founded in 1992 by Yin Mingshan (the Chinese Yin Mingshan). Originally she specialized in repairing motorcycles. Lifan has already become the largest manufacturer of motorcycles when they began to produce buses in 2003.
Becoming the fifth-largest Chinese motorcycle manufacturer for seventeen years, the company was renamed the Lifan Industry Group in 1997.
In 2005 the company started production of cars. The first of the produced cars were a minivan and a LF6361 / 1010 pickup truck based on the 1999 Daihatsu Atrai. In December 2005, the Lifan 520 / 520i was launched with the Brazilian Tritec engine. Currently, the Lifan range (as of autumn 2012) consists of a small car 320, compact sedan and hatchback 520 / 520i, a small sedan 620 and compact crossover X60.
